During her teenage years she wanted to become a doctor and as a graduation gift, Iva was sent back to Japan to visit her aunt.

According to evidence she was promoting Japanese propaganda against the United States during WWII. The propaganda was broadcast in a radio, it was programs were broadcast in the South Pacific and North America so that the Allied forces could hear.
