The War Crimes
Iva Toguri, also known as "Tokyo Rose", was the seventh person in the history of the United States to be accused of treason. Her war crimes against the United States where: promoting Japanese propaganda against the U.S., and propaganda against the Allied forces.
'Tokyo Rose'After Iva Toguri was not able to get a ship back to the United States, the Japanese government wanted her to not have her American citizenship. According to her, she refused to give up on her American citizenship. After about a year in Japan she became part of a radio program where she was known as "Orphan Ann" and later known as "Tokyo Rose". The radio used to broadcast in the South Pacific and North America to demoralize Allied forces abroad . The propaganda was Japanese against the United States, she still had an American citizenship, so that meant that she was going against her own country.

Consequences of the CrimesOnOn After all the propaganda against the United States, she was convicted of treason. October 6, 1949, Iva Toguri was sentenced to ten years of imprisonment and fined $10,000 for the crime of treason. She was released from prison 2 years earlier than she was supposed to. Toguri paroled and finally pardoned by President Ford in 1977. She lived a normal life with her husband (Felipe D'Aquino), and died on September 26, 2006 of natural causes.
